Aug. 6, 2025, SEOUL, KOREA – KiiiKiii, the icon of Gen Z, will make a comeback with their 1st digital single album ‘DANCING ALONE’ on Aug. 6, aiming to cement their status as rookie champions through their refreshing energy and emotional richness.
DANCING ALONE
Leading the album is ‘DANCING ALONE,’ a dance track sophisticatedly blending the moods of city pop and retro synth-pop. Highlighting KiiiKiii’s refreshing vibe, this bright and groovy song captures fleeting emotions, the atmosphere shared with friends, and a friendship more tender than love. With this approach, KiiiKiii shows that ‘dancing alone’ is not about loneliness, but can instead expand into a sense of freedom and connection. The music video is also grounded in reality rather than a fabricated world, delicately portraying authentic emotions and the lingering traces of friendship, inviting viewers to recall moments when they were alone, yet somehow still together.
Also included in the album is ‘Strawberry Cheesegame,’ a tune with a cute and refreshing sound that explores the complex emotions of friendship where jealousy and affection intertwine. Through this song, KiiiKiii sings about emotions that are sweet but not shallow, candid yet far from simple, resonating deeply with Gen Z.
Simply put, KiiiKiii prioritizes emotion over format and sincerity over trends in the upcoming album. By depicting how youth can protect themselves amid the emotional depths of friendship and uncertain relationships, the album imparts a simple yet confident message: “We stayed true to our emotions, and we still want to be.”
Ahead of the official release of ‘DANCING ALONE,’ KiiiKiii built anticipation through special performances and promotional activities. They premiered their lead track at the 2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon Summer in July, generating buzz with a catchy performance of a new therapeutic summer banger. The following day, the group posted a dance challenge video for the song on Tik Tok, showcasing a choreography amplifying the track’s lively, energetic atmosphere.
Differentiated promotional activities
For their online promotions, KiiiKiii offered a glimpse into ‘DANCE ALONE’ through an animated video and a website (kiiikiii.kr) underscoring their visual creativity. The animation – featuring the members playing a game, riding bicycles, sharing umbrellas on a rainy day, and watching the sunset over the sea together – concludes with a touching scene of the group hugging the youngest member KYA, visibly underlining the song’s central theme of friendship. On their retro-tinged website, KiiiKiii launched a promotional campaign under the concept of ‘KiiiKiii’s Garage Sale.’ It showcases a variety of colorful and eye-catching items linked to the members – who have transformed themselves into ‘sellers’ – including a DVD, game console, blender and friendship bracelets.
As part of their offline promotions, KiiiKiii operated the ‘KiiiKiii SLUSH TRUCK’ at a café in Seoul on Aug. 2-5, serving cool drinks to fans, chatting with them, and taking photos. They also danced to some parts of ‘DANCING ALONE,’ giving fans a sneak peek of the track.
KiiiKiii, consisting of JIYU, LEESOL, SUI, HAUM and KYA, is the newest girl group from Starship Entertainment – home to K-pop icons MONSTA X and IVE. The group made its official debut with the EP ‘UNCUT GEM’ on March 24, topping multiple album charts. The lead track ‘I DO ME,’ which emphasizes KiiiKiii’s musical identity of living independent and self-determined lives, also made waves, earning the group a music show win shortly after debut and marking a rare feat for a rookie act.
