Kakao Entertainment premiers “Solo Leveling” animation promotion video at Anime Expo 2023 in Los Angeles

SEOUL, July 5, 2023 – Kakao Entertainment unveiled a new promotion video for the animated version of its blockbuster hit “Solo Leveling” at this year’s Anime Expo 2023. The video teases several of the main characters appearing in the new animation, which is slated for release at the end of this year.

“Solo Leveling” has become a huge hit for Kakao Entertainment, garnering more than 14.3 billion cumulative views as a web novel and webtoon series. The title has become an icon of the Korean webtoon genre, and this latest part of the franchise attracted considerable attention from global fans.

The Lost Angeles Anime Expo is North America’s most substantial comic and animation festival and has become a global gathering point for comic aficionados. D&C Webtoon Biz, the content producer behind “Solo Leveling,” participated in Anime Expo this year to unveil the promotion video on July 4th.

In addition to revealing key visuals of the major characters, along with their respective voice artists, the promotional video also unveils key scenes from the story. Unsurprisingly, the reimagined animations of the main character, Sung Jin-woo, and other characters drew enthusiastic applause from the Solo Leveling fans who had gathered for the premiere. The 1-minute 30-second video is peppered with fan-favorite scenes, including the captivating scene from the Carteneon Temple.

The voice cast, comprising seasoned Japanese voice actors, also amps up the anticipation. Taito Ban, recognized for his roles in popular animations, such as “Tokyo Ghoul: re” and “The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten,” lends his voice to the protagonist Sung Jin-woo, who evolves from being the weakest hunter to a hero saving the Earth. Other notable voice actors include Reina Ueda as heroine Cha Hae-in, Genta Nakamura as Yoo Jin-ho, Hiroki Tochi as White Tiger Guild Master Baek Yun-ho, Daisuke Hirakawa as Hunters Guild Master Choi Jong-in, Banjo Ginga as Hunters’ Association Chairman Go Gun-hee, and Makoto Furukawa as Hunters’ Association Manager Woo Jin-cheol.

A parallel premier was held In Korea on Kakao Page, offering an exclusive first look for fans here, along with a host of events to mark the series’ upcoming release. Until July 17th, fans will be able to enjoy free access to 20 episodes of the original webtoon, and a special “3Hr Wait Until Free” promotion, which allows users to unlock available episodes for free every three hours, will be extended to the “Solo Leveling” web novel and webtoon series.
