March 25, 2025, SEOUL, KOREA – Kakao Entertainment announced the official worldwide launch of Berriz on March 25, a cutting-edge global fan platform designed to revolutionize the user experience.
As a fan platform for K-culture, Berriz will not only bring together fans of human intellectual properties (IPs) like artists and creators but also unite those who love content IPs such as drama, film, webtoons and musicals.
“Despite having different sizes and shapes, berries become sweeter when they are put together,” Kakao Entertainment said. “Like berries, Berriz will establish its presence as a playground where K-culture fandoms worldwide can communicate and discover joy together beyond genres and scopes.”
Fan-friendly platform
Jung Seung-hwan from Antenna was the first artist to join Berriz during its pre-opening period earlier this month. Gen-Z vibe girl group KiiiKiii also created its fan community on the platform on the day of its official debut, March 24, to boost fan interaction. The drama “Crushology 101,” based on Kakao Entertainment’s popular webtoon, will also launch its fan community shortly before its premiere in April. Kakao Entertainment plans to join hands with the artists under its labels, its content IPs, and various partners in the entertainment industry to make Berriz a fan platform dedicated to K-culture aficionados across the globe.
Berriz is a fan-friendly modular platform where IP holders and fandoms can choose designs and services based on their needs and wants. It offers services specialized for each IP, as well as diverse IP-tailored communities by incorporating AI, commerce, and livestreaming. It is also easy to modify the service and structure of the communities if desired. Simply put, Berriz aims to set up an optimized community environment ― not a standardized service ― where fans can communicate and entertain without any limits.
Kakao Entertainment will leverage its knowledge and experience in managing various platforms and channels like Kakao Page, Melon, and 1theK to create a new fandom culture in collaboration with fans. As today’s fandoms seek to enrich their experiences through interaction and content sharing, Berriz will be able to cater to these demands and enhance overall engagement.
Fan communities for KiiiKiii, ‘Crushology 101’
KiiiKiii from Starship Entertainment has been actively engaging with fans since enrolling in Berriz on March 24, the day its debut album “UNCUT GEM” came out. Berriz is open to anyone eager to communicate with the members, watch live streams and enjoy VOD services to get a deeper look at the attention-grabbing newcomers. KiiiKiii became the talk of the town even before its debut thanks to the remarkable popularity of its pre-release track, “I DO ME,” through which the group showcased its Gen-Z vibe and polished performance skills. The quintet, which hinted at plans to join Berriz during its pre-opening period, is now forging strong rapport with fans worldwide via the platform. On Berriz, KiiiKiii is set to present a group profile, along with individual profiles for each member ― Jiyu, Leesol, Sui, Haum and Kya ― to come up with special content highlighting their unique personalities and magnetism.
In April, the fan community for the upcoming MBC drama “Crushology 101” will be launched. Starring Roh Jeong-eui, Lee Chae-min and Cho Junyoung, the series revolves around a college student named Bani, who stumbles upon attractive men after breaking up with her dark first love. Kakao Entertainment has planned and produced the series, which is based on the popular Kakao Webtoon with 170 million accumulated views. It serves as a shining example of Kakao Entertainment’s IP crossover project, spanning across webtoons, web novels, dramas and musicals.
Service available in 18 languages
Berriz will entertain people with various content linked to both the drama and the webtoon, further enriching their experience with AI-powered content and special events. This approach will bring fans of the drama and original webtoon together in one place, enabling them to communicate and enjoy the content together.
Jung Seung-hwan’s fan community has introduced new services following the official launch of Berriz. A special zone for “US,” Jung’s official fan club, has been opened, accessible after fans complete membership verification. All previous data that were available before Berriz’ arrival have been transferred as well, allowing followers to walk down memory lane. Berriz is currently available on the web and mobile (Android, iOS), offering the service in 18 languages including English and Korean for global fans.
