November 1, 2024, SEOUL, KOREA – The original soundtracks for “Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience,” a six-part TV series chronicling the growth journey of Kakao Entertainment and SM Entertainment’s first British boy band, dearALICE, is generating buzz in the music scene following its release on Nov. 1.
Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience, which aired on UK’s BBC One and BBC iPlayer from August to September, captured the remarkable journey of dearALICE members as they spent 100 days in Seoul receiving K-pop training and guidance to grow as musicians. Following its successful run, the series has celebrated its conclusion with dearALICE’s release of their first original soundtracks, drawing global fans’ attention.
The original soundtracks for Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience hit multiple streaming platforms including iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify on Nov. 1. The six lively and rhythmic tracks, which capture the unique identity of dearALICE, were created by internationally acclaimed prouducers.
In particular, the title track “Best Day of Our Lives” is an upbeat and vibrant song that conveys a message of overcoming self-doubt and fear, encouraging listeners to believe in themselves and embrace the best moments in life with joy. Notably, the track features the collaboration with Steve Mac, a hit songwriter known for his work with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and the recipient of the British Producer of the Year award at the 2018 Brit Awards, as well as British singer-songwriter Tom Grennan, who contributed to its composition and production.
“Vibes” is a track that dearALICE performed in front of an audience for the first time in the Made in Korea series. The members also mesmerized the audience with their performance during an event hosted by the British Embassy in Korea. “Solar” is an energetic song they showcased at the Seoul School of Performing Arts.
dearALICE’s new album also offers “Life is a Movie” that features the collaboration between renowned South Korean songwriter-producer KENZIE and the Norwegian songwriting group Dsign Music, which is known for their work with top K-pop groups like SUPER JUNIOR, GIRLS’ GENERATION, and EXO.
Jake Torrey, known for his collaborations with pop stars like Justin Bieber and Charlie Puth, contributed to “Classic,” a tune characterized by a dynamic pop sound. For “Time With You,” Wayne Hector, who has produced hits for British boy bands like One Direction and Westlife, joined forces with songwriter Mich Hansen to create sweet melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
Following its release, “Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience” has captured significant attention from prominent British media outlets such as The Evening Standard, The Guardian, and The Radio Times. It has garnered positive reviews in terms of popularity, musicality and viewership ratings while being praised for elevating K-pop’s global status. Thanks to the series’ success, dearALICE’s soundtracks are also receiving positive feedback from global music fans.
dearALICE is set to appear on BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing: The Results,” a program that has been beloved by UK audience for 20 years. It is also well-known in Korea as “Dancing with the Stars.” The five members will perform live on November 3, seeking another chance to fascinate their fans and viewers.
Launched in collaboration with Kakao Entertainment, SM Entertainment and British entertainment company MOON&BACK Media, dearALICE consists of five members: Blaise Noon, Dexter Greenwood, James Sharp, Oliver Quinn, and Reese Carter.
