Park Seo-joon, well known for his role as the lead character in popular TV series “Itaewon Class,” held an online fan meet to celebrate his 10th year since debuting as an actor. Titled “Park Seo-joon, Comma,” the event was organized by Kakao Entertainment, the parent company of Park’s management agency, Awesome Ent. The event was broadcast through the company’s video content platform KakaoTV and YouTube channel 1theK for fans worldwide.
With its expertise in large-scale events such as the Melon Music Awards (MMA) and live music shows, Kakao Entertainment delivered an event that brought together fans worldwide for interactive chat sessions as well as a series of congratulatory video messages from other celebrities, and a special singing performance from Park himself.
“We decided to call the event ‘Park Seo-joon Comma,’ because we wanted this to be a moment where we look back on the past ten years and pause to reflect on those times,” Park said in his opening remarks to his fans. “I can’t believe it’s already been ten years since I started acting. It has been great fun for me, and I’ve felt really happy. There have been some tough times, but I was able to get through them thanks to you all.”
The 140-minute event kicked off with a lookback on Park’s career, starting with his first TV drama “Dream High 2” and movie “Midnight Runners” for which the actor won the Grand Bell Award’s Rookie of the Year. It also included the ever-popular “Itaewon Class,” which was streamed globally and became one of the most Googled search terms in Korea during that time. Park talked about some of the favorite roles that he played over the past decade. Fans who got to vote for their all-time favorite Park Seo-joon role chose character Go Dong-man from TV drama “Fight for My Way.”
Park Seo-joon’s close colleagues and other top stars also joined the fan meet virtually. Well-known celebrities including Lee Byung-hun, Jung Yu-mi, Choi Woo-sik, and BTS’s V made an appearance in a video dedicated to Park Seo-joon. They expressed their heartfelt congratulations for the actor’s 10th anniversary.
“Park Seo-joon, Comma” is the second online live event to be planned and directed by Kakao Entertainment, following actress and singer Suzy’s 10th anniversary fan meet “Suzy: A Tempo,” which took place in January and has garnered an accumulated 1.8 million views since.
“When it comes to our live shows, artists are directly involved from the planning phase. Through these fan events, they’re able to share a side of themselves that their fans have never seen before,” Kim Dong-il, a producer at Kakao Entertainment said, adding that the company will continue to create exciting opportunities for fans to engage with their favorites artists.
