Kakao Entertainment-SM’s boy band dearALICE takes No. 1 on UK’s Official Soundtrack Albums Chart with album for its BBC series

November 11, 2024, SEOUL, KOREA – dearALICE, the yet-to-debut British boy band formed by Kakao Entertainment and SM Entertainment, is making a splash on the UK Official Charts with its original soundtracks for “Made in Korea: The K-Pop Eperience,” a six-part TV series chronicling its growth journey.

The original soundtracks, which gained instant attention upon their release on Nov. 1, ranked first on the Official Soundtrack Albums Chart (based on data from the Official Charts Company, Nov. 1–7). Although the group has yet to make its official debut, its impressive performance on the UK’s major chart highlights its growing popularity, raising expectations for its upcoming debut album and future activities.

“Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience” aired on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from August to September, with ITV Studios handling its international distribution. It captured the journey of the dearALICE members as they spent 100 days in Seoul receiving K-pop training and guidance to grow as musicians. Following its successful run, the series celebrated its conclusion with the band’s release of its first original soundtracks, with prominent producers participating in their creative process.

In the case of “Best Day of Our Lives,” an upbeat and vibrant tune imparting a message of overcoming self-doubt and fear, it features the collaboration between Steve Mac ― the recipient of the British Producer of the Year award at the 2018 Brit Awards, who is known for his work with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran ― and Tom Grennan, another acclaimed British singer-songwriter. “Best Day of Our Lives” has been praised by many as a fitting choice for dearALICE, which gives off positive energy and delivers an uplifting message.

On Nov. 3, dearALICE premiered “Best Day of Our Lives” on “Strictly Come Dancing: The Results,” a BBC’s flagship TV show on BBC One, mesmerizing UK viewers. In this show, dearALICE was introduced as “The world’s hottest new boy band.” The members wowed the audience with their performing skills while also grabbing attention for their teamwork and chemistry. “Strictly Come Dancing: The Results” held an audience share of 48.04 percent on Nov. 3 ― the highest among all programs that aired at the same time.

Launched in collaboration with Kakao Entertainment, SM Entertainment and British entertainment company MOON&BACK Media, dearALICE consists of Blaise Noon, Dexter Greenwood, James Sharp, Oliver Quinn, and Reese Carter. The group plans to put out its official debut single later this year.
